Stage Progress Part I

The Porter Farm Field - early June 2013. Now the grass has
grown tall and mowing has begun to keep the grounds well-
maintained and sectioned off. The stage will be placed to the
left of the trees you see in the center of the field.
One of the challenges of changing locations this year is the fact that we are going from having two "stages" to zero. I quote the word stages because at The Barn at Boyden Farm we didn't have an actual stage at all, but more or less, good designated performance spaces. The upside of starting from scratch in a wide-open field, is that I can have the stage I always dreamt of. I have enlisted the help of John Shaw, who I know from working with him on the Cambridge Arts Council. We both serve on the Council and we are both friends of Crystal and Tom, who own The Porter Farm. John is a talented woodworker and carpenter who happens to be helping with the remodeling of Crystal and Tom's house too! In the meantime, he will be helping construct a stage for CMF! We sat down briefly this morning after the Arts Council meeting to map out the specs for the stage, based on info I was given from a stage Seth Eames (of The Eames Brothers) built a few years ago for a benefit concert on Lake Elmore. We sketched out a plan and tomorrow we will go stake it out at location. Exciting things!! I will be sure to continue posting progress on the stage!

NOTE: If you have any scrap building supplies, we are building this thing using mostly recycled materials and on a very tight budget. We can accept in-kind donations of building materials as a tax-deductible donation, as Cambridge 360, the owner of Cambridge Music Festival, is a registered 501(c)3 organization! Thank you, kindly!
